Fog on the water

September 19, 2021

After a bunch of soccer, it was nice to get away for a quick weekend trip to the Adirondacks. I decided to try something really radical for me and get up before dawn to do some shooting on the lake shore. I haven’t had a spare moment to process most of them yet but the second morning had the lake under a deep fog, providing a real gem of an opportunity.

I’m shooting on a really wide 14mm lens so it might not be apparent just how thick the fog is. But looking out toward the lake was just a total whiteout. That tiny island on the left was only maybe a hundred yards away and it was tough to see. But fog obliterated most of the surroundings and coupled with the still water and a long exposure it makes for a rather ethereal image if I say so myself.
