Clinton vs Adirondack United
February 18, 2023
The battle for the New York State girls varsity ice hockey championship was a tight battle. The Clinton Warriors came flying out of the gate and put Adirondack on its heels. But a penalty to Clinton gave United the man advantage and they took advantage, getting on the board first with a goal by sophomore Lillian Willis. Clinton answered back almost immediately, knotting the game at one apiece with a shot from Mackinley Ronan.
Adirondack started asserting themselves late in the first and dominated the play for most of the remaining game. They piled up an enormous shot advantage, 26-10 but could not figure out how to get one past Clinton goalie Casey Clausen. And then with 1:21 left in the third, Clinton senior Drew Kopek put home the game winner, ending Adirondack’s Cinderella season.
