Class C/CC Playoff

May 27, 2023

A little quirk of the playoffs in this area is that while most class champions move on to regionals, class C and class CC are forced to have a playoff to advance. So class C champion Duanesburg faced off with class CC champs Chatham for the right to advance to regionals. And it was a hell of a game. Duanesburg starting pitcher Peyton Fall spent six innings strangling Chatham’s potent offense. Things looked dire for the Panthers as they entered the seventh needing the bottom of the order to deliver. Jamieson Balich led things off with a double. Noah Hutchinson came in as a pinch runner. He stole third and scampered home on the wild throw to tie the game. Logan Smalley walked and moved into scoring position on Matt Radley’s bunt attempt. And then Jake Taylor singled to drive in the winning run, setting off a wild celebration by the Panthers. The photos that follow is the part of the game I just described. Enjoy.
