The Tree

July 22, 2023

A week ago, we returned home from a short vacation in the Adirondacks to find that a nasty storm had dropped a big chunk of the huge maple tree in our front yard on top of the house. In the process it peeled off a chunk of the roof, squashed the front porch and shortened the chimney by a couple feet. The good news is that we were already planning to replace the porch. That’s about it for the good news, really.

We brought in New Leaf Tree Service to extract the tree from the porch without further damage and remove the rest of the tree, which remained a threat to do this again. So what follows are photos of the work being done on the tree and the roofer Derrick Sieger trying to bend our metal roof back into a shape resembling a roof before the next storm arrived.. Because it seems to me that just about everything can look cool if shot right. It’s also a big thank you for all these folks who very quickly and professionally converged on our problem.
